NURSES Temporary Entry Under NAFTA Canadian and Mexican nurses can enter the USA to work on a TN status. Canadian nurses may have a Canadian provincial license or a state license issued in the United States to qualify for a TN status. In addition, the nurse must have a license in the state of intended employment suitable for commencement of employment, That license may be a permanent, a temporary license or other temporary authorization, such as a letter or receipt for processing of the application for permanent license. Even if the temporary authorization is for less than one year, the nurse should generally be given a one-year period of admission (provide the employment will last that long), because permanent licensure is likely to follow. Mexican nurses must possess a degree. For further information, send your query to Aparna Davé. |
